Sioux City Explorers
The following is a little glimpse into the work I put in with the Sioux City Explorers, an independent baseball team, as a promotions intern.
Print Media
During my summer with the X's, I was in charge of the daily insert for the programs. The daily insert was a pamphlet for the team which included team stats, standings, starting pitchers, and promotions. The insert was made every day and was sold and distributed to the crowds on that day.
In-Game Promotions
Another part of my job with the Sioux City Explorers was setting up the entertainment during the game. I would run games for contestants, as well as promotions that the audience could follow along with. An example of a game we would play in between innings was the sack race and an example of a promotion would be our partnership with Old Chicago for "Steal a Beer".
Pre-Game Schedule and PA Script
Another part of my summer with the X's was setting up the pre-game schedule and helping with the PA script for the game. Setting up pre-game would include setting up national anthem singers, first pitchers, promo videos, and certain pre-game ceremonies. I would also help write the script for the game that the PA announcer reads. Everything from pre-game to post-game was written in the scripts.
